Since its beginning the Mississippi Economic Council (MEC), Mississippi’s largest business and professional organization and the state’s chamber of commerce, has acknowledged education as a cornerstone in the process of helping Mississippi and its citizens reach their potential.

The Education Celebration is a salute to the state’s best and brightest. Each Star Student and STAR teacher is honored at the Mississippi Economic Council’s Education Celebration. MEC will provide certificates to the STAR Student and STAR Teacher from each school.
